About this Event
Join us for an exciting evening celebrating South Florida's vibrant contemporary music scene through the Soundologia Anthology, a collection that showcases both acoustic and experimental works. The panel discussion will be hosted by musicologist, executive producer, and curator Pedja Kovačević, alongside composers and sound artists featured in Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the Anthology. Some artists will be present in person, while others will join virtually, offering insights into their creative processes and the significance of being part of this groundbreaking project.
Volume 1 primarily features acoustic compositions, with one standout piece blending traditional Chinese instruments and electronic soundscapes. Volume 2, set for release in March, delves into the experimental side of contemporary music, incorporating electronic elements. Volume 1 highlights composers Gustavo Matamoros, Federico Bonacossa, Orlando Jacinto Garcia, Dorothy Hindman, Catalina von Wrangell, and Chen-Hui Jen. Volume 2 introduces artists such as Alba Triana, Jacob David Sudol, José Hernández Sánchez, José Veliz, Juraj Kojš, and Richard Garet.
As visual art plays an integral role in the Anthology, art director Dimitry Saïd Chamy will also participate in the discussion. His artwork, designs, and videos, featured in the Anthology's digital booklet, will be showcased at the event.
The evening will include live performances of selected pieces from both volumes, played quadraphonically on the theater’s new surround sound system, offering an immersive listening experience.
The first release, accompanied by a beautifully designed booklet featuring detailed compositional notes, artist bios, and visuals, is available on the Soundologia Bandcamp page and the Soundologia website.
