About this Event
For one weekend, PINK will be transformed into an expanded listening space through installation, performance, text, and conversation. Join us on Friday 17th October for an evening of Sounding Water ~ an unfurling durational gathering of sound, image, and voice.
Live performances interlace field recordings, archival traces, spoken word, and moving image, creating a shifting, multi-channel environment that invites listeners to follow the currents of memory and place.
Collaborating Artists:
Lizzie King works across photography, print, and sound, her practice investigates ecological memory, cycles of decay and regeneration, and alchemical image-making using analogue processes and natural materials. She explores how landscapes absorb and express presence, history, and loss.
Inland Taipan (Aisling Davis / Thalia Styx) is a multi-instrumentalist and installation artist, drawing on marine biology, architecture, and underwater archaeology. Her sound-based practice builds tactile sonic environments. She has exhibited internationally, scored for film and orchestra, and recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
Hayley Suviste is a composer and sound artist working with field recordings, oral histories, and archives. Her immersive works explore memory, place, and community. She is completing a practice-based PhD at the University of Manchester’s NOVARS Research Centre on the ethics of sound-based storytelling.
Fiona Brehony is an artist and writer working between geography, sound, documentary, and performance. Her practice is rooted in urban change and environmental equity. She is currently researching Manchester’s River Irk through an AHRC-funded project, engaging rivers as cultural heritage and sites of community connection.
