Founded in Munich in 2020, the Santorsa–Pereyra Duo defines itself as a band for contemporary music. Formed by guitarists Ruben Mattia Santorsa and Adrián Pereyra, the ensemble explores the sonic possibilities of the guitar through both acoustic and electric instruments, often combined with live electronics.
The duo’s artistic identity is rooted in close collaboration with composers of the younger generation. Their work often involves a creative exchange from the earliest stages of composition, blurring the boundaries between interpretation and creation. Their repertoire reflects this approach, with numerous world premieres dedicated to them.
In 2020, the Duo was awarded the Music Scholarship of the City of Munich for their project so nah ~ so fern, later supported by the Ernst von Siemens Foundation and the German Music Fund (Musikfonds). The project features eight new works for two electric guitars and live electronics, created in close partnership with emerging composers.
The Santorsa–Pereyra Duo has performed across Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, appearing at international festivals such as Heroines of Sound (Berlin), Acht Brücken (Cologne), and Now! Festival (Essen).
