About this Event

Join composers Diana Tayler and Mari Alice Conrad as they invite participants to engage with sound and music composition in non-traditional ways where zero musical experience is required.

The dynamic team will guide the workshop in a creative and inclusive approach to composition by crafting sound sculptures, or musical maps, from a variety of mediums including plasticine, fabric, paint, yarn, paper, cardboard, pencil crayons, plastic fasteners, wood, metal, and an array of recycled objects that correspond to chosen sound parameters.

Through the sculpting of sound elements in their score, the participants will have the opportunity to workshop ideas with the presenters and their instruments. The session will conclude with an open performance of the works.

Each participant will receive a take-home graphic score and an audio recording of their composition for harp and percussion. Children are welcome, accompanied by an adult. Admission fee of $10 covers materials and recording.
