Sound of Sanctuary LIVE at Rochester Contemporary Art Center

Join us at RoCo for an evening of music and community as Anaglog joins first- and second-generation Rochester artists in performing songs from Sound of Sanctuary, a sonic snapshot of Rochester presented as an installation at RoCo. The performance brings the project full circle, transforming the exhibition from a listening space into a living field of play.
Created using sound as journalism, Sound of Sanctuary archives the music and sounds of our city. This live activation continues that practice in real time, transmitting the sound and stories of Rochester back into the community.
What does sanctuary sound like? Through conscious listening and shared musicking, we explore that question while demonstrating art’s practical utility in strengthening social relationships and building belonging at a time when our communities are being actively fragmented.
