About this Event

Money is power. You hear it all the time. Those who have wealth have power and with economic inequality growing in America, is the power imbalance growing with it? How are those with wealth using their power, and is it possible for those on the bottom end of the wealth gap to still gain power?

On the next "Sound of Ideas Community Tour," host Jenny Hamel convenes a discussion on the intersection of wealth and power. We’ll touch on everything from the influence of the denizens of Cleveland’s long-gone Millionaires Row, to the effort of hourly workers to gain power, to the impact of persistent racial wealth disparities.

The event, part of The Cleveland Orchestra’s 2024 Humanities Festival, is taking place at The Cleveland History Center on Thursday, May 9 at 6 p.m. It will be recorded in front of a live audience and aired the following week on WKSU 89.7. The event is free and open to the public.

The “Sound of Ideas” is Ideastream Public Media's flagship local news program which airs weekdays at 9 a.m. on WKSU 89.7 FM.
