Sound of Ideas Community Tour: Property Taxes
About this Event
Ohio's property taxes generate more than $21 billion in revenue a year, helping pay for things like public schools, parks, police departments and other local services. But homeowners have been experiencing sticker shock lately, with some counties seeing double digit increases in property tax valuations. Some are calling for major reform and one group is hoping to eliminate property taxes entirely through a statewide ballot initiative.
Join "Sound of Ideas" Host Stephanie Haney on Monday, July 20th at 6pm at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for the next "Sound of Ideas Community Tour" where a panel will discuss efforts to rein in property taxes and provide homeowners relief, as well as how change could impact services important to the community.
The event is free and open to the public.
Panelists include:
• Brian Zimmerman, CEO, Cleveland Metroparks
• Amber Gibbs, EdD, Superintendent and CEO, Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities
• Frank Antenucci, Chief Deputy Administrator, Geauga County Auditor's Office
• John Plecnik, Associate Professor of Law, Cleveland State University; Commissioner, Lake County
The "Sound of Ideas" is Ideastream Public Media's flagship news and information program focusing on Northeast Ohio. Learn more about the show.
