Q. Why Meditate?
A. Oftentimes when we walk into a social environment, we are bombarded with stimuli, and sometimes that is a welcome part of the experience. Since the local arts scene is very busy, we want this event to be a place that helps prevent burnout, through being a container for slowing down, processing our ideas/emotions/and somatic experiences.
Q: Is this an open mic? Will there be a workshop?
A: While there is no “workshop” or “open mic” people will be able to generate writing and share it spontaneously. As people wander the room, engaging with writing activations on their own time, the mic will be open for people to share what is coming through for them on the page.
Q: Can I read something I wrote the other week?
A: Maybe - we won't say no. That being said, the intention of the event is to see what creative muse we can invoke collectively. We encourage people to not preplan a piece to read. Akin to a science experiment, we need a control variable, which is the component that what is read or said or sung is generated within the container of the event.
Q: Is the Starjammer the band playing?
A: Starjammer is the generator for the sound flight, piloted by Squiddius J. Madden. As sound is created, the sonic atmosphere expands, and we take off into the sound flight. Throughout the event, Squidds will pilot the generator for our sound flight to Planet: Disillusioned, elevating our sensory integration through music and sound mixing.
