Sound Bend Sessions is thrilled to welcome acclaimed singer-songwriter Paul Spring for an intimate evening of music celebrating his newest LP, Dumb and Free.
Raised in Minnesota and now based in New York City, Paul Spring has carved out a singular sound that blends classical guitar, folk songwriting, baroque influences, Irish traditional melodies, and modern indie-pop textures. His music has been praised for its rich arrangements, thoughtful storytelling, and emotional depth.
Paul’s latest album, Dumb and Free, is a collection of character-driven songs inspired by the people and stories of his hometown. Written from the perspectives of individuals he met while canvassing and reconnecting with his community, the record explores empathy, humanity, and the complexity of everyday life. The album was developed during a residency in Brooklyn and recorded with a stellar band featuring Nick Hakim, Jon Nellen, Adam Brisbin, and Kevin Copeland.
Before launching his solo career, Paul was the lead singer and songwriter of the band Holy Hive. His work has connected him with artists including Post Malone, Fleet Foxes, Black Thought, El Michels Affair, Kenny Beats, and Vic Mensa. He is also an accomplished guitarist known for his Bach interpretations and adventurous river canoe tours supporting his music.
