Sound Bath ~ Sound Therapy

Explore the world of sound therapy with Adriana Dobbs of Serenity Sounds Vibrational Sound Therapy. Adriana will use Harmonic precisely-tuned Frosted Crystal Singing Bowls and various instruments, including Himalayan Singing Bowls, chimes, and rainstick, to welcome the body into a relaxed state through sound and vibration. Her passion for sound therapy developed from a self-care practice to manage and support her anxiety and autoimmune disease. Adriana completed a 3-month Sonic Mastery System training under Becca Laurito, Principal Percussionist of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, Honolulu, to focus on sharing soothing sound baths with our community, aiming to relax and support the nervous system to promote well-being. She is also a Certified Vibrational Sound Therapy Practitioner through the Vibrational Sound Association.

Some benefits of sound bath therapy include:

• Deep relaxation and meditative-like states
• Reduction of stress and anxiety
• Increased feelings of happiness, joy, and tranquility
• Reduction in fatigue and depression
• Lowering of heart rate and blood pressure
• Ease of chronic pain and inflammation
• Promotes restful sleep
• Relaxes muscular tension

To support you in this laying down experience, we encourage you to bring a yoga mat, pillow, eye mask, and/or blanket for comfort. If you are cold-natured, dressing in layers may be helpful because your body temperature may decrease as you relax. It is recommended that you are well-hydrated with water to optimize your experience.

A sound bath is not recommended for those in their first trimester of pregnancy or those with thrombosis. In-person sound baths may produce monaural beats; if you are prone to seizures, you should check with your physician. If you wear a cochlear implant, please let your facilitator know.
