Offered by Melody, a mama, a musician, a raver, a street nurse, a certified sound healing practitioner and acudetox specialist. She completed her sound healing training at the Institute for Traditional Medicine in 2018 and has been working towards bringing accessible sound healing modalities to marginalized clients and frontline workers in various community organizations and art spaces.
In 2020 she co-founded Tempo Outreach, a volunteer led not for profit which provides harm reduction based outreach to the Reggae Lane community. Melody believes that sound healing and harm reduction are foundational aspects of radical compassion rooted in community connection and holistic care.
Sound baths can be helpful for anyone who experiences physical pain, sleeplessness, anxiety, depression, addictions, mood disorders, as well as anyone who wishes to experience deep relaxation or restorative balancing. Each experience for each person is unique. One of the goals many practitioners work towards during a sound bath is restoring balance to the nervous system.
- For those new to sound baths please know that there is no right or wrong way to receive one.
- No experience with meditation is required.
- Pillows, blankets, and journals are encouraged!
- Yoga mats will be provided, brining your own as an extra padding is encouraged.
This event will be raising funds for Tempo Outreach. Our volunteers work alongside multiple community agencies in Toronto and meet with community members every week. We distribute survival supplies, harm reduction supplies, food, and connection to social services and nursing care.
