SOUK House Band: Kirtan Meets the Electric
Kirtan is one of the world's oldest forms of communal prayer. Rooted in the Sanskrit word meaning "to narrate, recite, or praise," it sits at the heart of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of love and devotion. A leader sings a sacred mantra. The room sings it back. The repetition builds, the thinking mind quiets, and something older and deeper takes over.
The SOUK House Band keeps that sacred container fully intact and then cranks the amp.
Ancient Sanskrit mantras meet guitar riffs you didn't expect. The harmonium and tabla hold the devotional thread while hard rock and gothic textures move through the call-and-response, creating something that is simultaneously cathedral and concert hall, ceremony and performance.
You don't need to know Sanskrit. You don't need to be a musician. You just need to show up, open your mouth, and let the sound do what sound has always done: to move through you, dissolve the distance between you and the person next to you, and remind you that something far older than any genre is alive in the room.
Backed by guitar, keyboard, tabla, tanpura, and harmonium. Fueled by something harder to name.
