Students Day is held on Friday, the first day of the Authors Festival, before the festival events begin in the afternoon. Over a dozen authors and thought leaders–most of whom also appear at the Authors Festival–speak to 2,700 middle and high school students in the Sonoma Valley. Also, students receive free copies of the books written by the presenting authors, all paid for with private funds. Between 4,000 and 5,000 books are given away to the students each year. Thanks to generous donors and sponsors, Students Day typically takes place at Sonoma Valley High School and Sonoma Academy, with students from Archbishop Hanna High School attending. Adele Harrison and Altimira Middle Schools also host an author with students from the Kenwood School participating.
