Sunday the 23rd of March we're back in The Grey Space in The Hague for a new edition of Sonic Waves, our intimate listening sessions for outlier electronic music.Dutch IDM legend Kettel headlines with a live-set featuring music from his upcoming album Dubio, which will be released on his new label Aquatic Ape the 24th of March.
Sound designer Tom Laan will deliver a mesmerizing performance with his live modular setup, accompanied by new visuals from Annemarie Slobbe.
And Grittygun, the DJ and music connoisseur who you might know as that friendly guy at 3345, will play a DJ set specially made for your listening pleasure.
INDEX dj's Backspace, Foresense, Edward J , Dayo and MSZ will support the evening with their music as well.

Kettel

Kettel, real name Reimer Eising, born and raised in Friesland and now inhabitant of Groningen, is a trained classical pianist, who quickly made his mark with his debut on the influential Planet Mu label in the early 2000s. His contributions to the electronic scene have been significant, with numerous releases under his belt and the co-founding of the esteemed Sending Orbs label, leaving an indelible mark on the music landscape.
Kettel is well-known for his delicate, playful melodies uniting elements of electronica, classical music, jazz and acid stirred into flawless, memorable compositions with always a unique focus on harmony and counterpoint.
Outside of his released music, Kettel has put his musical mark on 2 popular videogames with Ibb & Obb (2013) and Park Beyond (2023) and has won several awards as a composer for bespoke music in several media.
Tom Laan

Born and raised Dutch artist Tom Laan (tomlaan) studied interactive/media/design at the Royal Academy of Art and is known for his humane digital approach to music and interactive media. It resulted in a thesis on live-performing electronic music, but later on also the Bangers and Ash EP released on NY based Styles Upon Styles, and has exhibited interactive installations throughout Europe, South Africa and India.
Exploring and combining the fields of interaction design, graphic design, code based imagery, and of course music.
Tom appreciates making music with analog synthesizers nowadays since to him it feels like dealing with a living organism. Inspired by his father who is a well known landscape artist, he rather likes to think of making music as a process of adding something to the existing landscape then creating something new.
Grittygun

Grittygun, real name Gunnar Hendriks, is on his way to become a well established name in the Dutch electronic music scene with gigs ranging from obscure raves to high profile organizations like Dekmantel. He is a true music connoisseur in many genres, helping people find the best music in the 3345 recordstore in The Hague. We’re very curious what he’ll bring to Sonic Waves but are very sure it will be some amazing sounds to enjoy.
Annemarie Slobbe

Annemarie Slobbe prefers to live without a clock, in a timeless state without stress or desire. And while she concentrates on the silence within herself, she watches the world flow by. The tide of swirling waters, stormy skies and a twinkling starry sky reveal the grand natural cycle. The progression from day to night symbolizes that everything that arises will also pass away. Annemarie's observations come to life in her work, for example in abstract paintings in which we can relate to the changeability of existence. In the making process, small irregularities, or the impact of stiff material, can break a preconceived pattern. By not correcting but accepting these changes, compositions develop naturally. For Sonic Waves she will present digital works, complementing the music to help the visitor to lose themselves in the experience.
