Songwriting Workshop w/ Yousef Shami

As any beginner songwriter will tell you, starting out can be a challenge, and Yousef wants to make this start as comfortable as possible.

It's important to use an interactive and entertaining approach in order to encourage students to seek out songwriting as a means to cultivate wonder, excitement, and pleasure from learning about music as a whole. Music is a universal language, and as such, it has no age or ability requirements! Yousef wants to accommodate all of your musical needs to empower you to enjoy music in any way that you desire.

This workshop is meant for beginners--we'll be spending very little time talking about technical music stuff and focus more on song structure and writing. We'll cover a variety of topics such as:

• Song sections and their purpose (intro, verse, chorus, etc.)
• Storytelling and poetry in/through music
• Arranging songs (structure)
• Music tools for songwriting and beyond (Digital Audio Workstations / DAWs and more)
• How to write music as somebody with proficiency in only 0-1 instruments
• How to get started without getting overwhelmed
