Songwriting for the Soul
with Brittany Brook
About this Event

With Brittany's help, you will practice free-writing your thoughts, forming them into poetry, and creating a song within a Pop structure. You will leave this class with at least one completed song, like what you might hear from Taylor Swift, the Beatles, or Dolly Parton. Songwriting can be such a powerful tool for our mental health. Come songwrite for your soul!

Are you a person who can play 3 chords confidently on a musical instrument? This is a 7-week course designed just for you. With Brittany Brook's help, you will practice writing your own lyrics, melody and chord structure. You will leave this class having written at least one Pop-style song, like what you might hear from Taylor Swift, the Beatles, or Dolly Parton.

Brittany is a certified Trauma-informed music teacher and her work centers on finding emotional regulation through the creating and sharing of music. This class is designed to offer teens and adults a tangible resource for mental health challenges. It is also meant to be intergenerational – for teens and adults to mix together and form supportive relationships over the course of the class. Come song-write for your soul!

Disclaimer: Of course, Brittany is not a medical expert and does not claim that songwriting can be used as a replacement for psychiatric/medical help but as an additional resource for mental health challenges.

Bio: Brittany Brook is a lifelong songwriter and has written for The Snowy Mountain Sisters, the Ukulele Project, her children’s YouTube mini-series, , as a solo artist. She is an incredibly gifted teacher with over 20 years of experience in early childhood music, afterschool programs and private guitar with adults. Brittany Brook is trained in Trauma-informed leadership which makes her a profoundly patient and committed teacher. Her bright positivity and ability to break down the process leave folks feeling not only empowered to make their own music but encouraged in their souls.
