Jay Gavin
Jay Gavin writes and sings songs for fans of real county - from classic country to twangy Americana, country & western, outlaw and backporch folk. Jay is making a name for his natural authenticity, his catchy hooks, his foot-stomping, autobiographical, everyman songs and his good timin' live shows.
This month featured songwriters are:
Janky Bungag
Vancouver based country / bluegrass music. You can call it cow-punk, farm rock, barn burner, but we just like to call it a good time! Fast bluegrass picking and a high lonesome sound will surely kick up some dust at a dance floor near you.
Robert Connell Farr
Robert Connely Farr is a songwriter from Bolton Mississippi, hometown of musical legends Charley Patton, Sam Chatmon, Bo Carter & Walter Vinson. In Bentonia (just up the road from Bolton) bluesman Jimmy “Duck” Holmes has mentored Farr in a particular form of Delta Blues called the Bentonia Blues
Taylor James
Though she’s shared stages with a host of legendary acts including Colin James, Ten Years After, Jeff Healy, Meat Loaf and Levon Helm, her deep love of song-craft and talent for bringing people together have always included her lesser-known peers. When the original music scene in Vancouver was dying a slow death, her weekly candle-lit songwriter’s showcase at the Arts Club Theatre brought out the best of both artists and audience. Some of Vancouver’s most talented writers, including such well-known acts as Paul Hyde (Payolas), Rhymes with Orange and John Bottomley, as well as many lesser known but equally talented artists, were thankful for the chance to play in front of a crowd that was “Taylor-made” for listening.
