Songwriters@Scup#49, w/Dave L., Rebecca Reel, & Vicente Salas
To start off our fifth year, we're excited to bring you a diverse blend of power-pop, humorous songs about the human condition, and heartfelt Mexican balladry.
Dave L, Dave Laukaitis, if you’re not into brevity, is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and vocalist from Burlington, NC. Originally from the Washington, DC area, Dave began his musical journey playing in a cover band in 1980, before stepping it up a notch playing his own songs in clubs in Washington in the mid-80’s (with Gigolo Aunt, The Probes and Lazy Circle). He eventually relocated to NC in 2002. Dave’s songs take the form of many styles from power pop, folkadelic, straight folk and rock. He primarily plays solo acoustically these days but can also be found fronting the newly formed power pop trio Glass Puzzle. Several times a year he plays gigs in the DC metro area with a Who tribute band, The Quadropheniacs, where he’s the windmilling guitar player.
Rebecca Reel is a musician-entertainer from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She has enjoyed tapping her toes and belting out tunes her entire life and strives to tap into the universal human experience and funnel it into the three minute five second format we call “songs.” Hopefully providing a good belly laugh or a therapeutic cry. She currently is an English teacher internationally and is thrilled to share her original music stateside.
Vicente Salas is a 24 year old Mexican American singer songwriter from Graham, North Carolina. A recent UNCG graduate playing to share his love for music and pride for his Mexican culture. He is looking to create original music close to his roots with inspiration from his own experiences and the music style of corridos and Sierreño.
