Country Music Songwriters in the Round return to Southern Brewing Co. June 18th! Featuring a tribute to to the Women of Country Music!
Susan Staley plays in the singing trio The Solstice Sisters, the early jazz-styled, six-piece band The Hobohemians and in the old-time fiddle band String Theory. She also books the music at the Athens Farmers Market and hosted the Athens Folk Music and Dance Society's North Georgia Folk Festival and music variety show ‘The Hoot’ for many years. She's opened for Sam Bush, Carolina Chocolate Drops, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, Tim & Molly O’Brien and shared the festival stage with many more. Her skills on the guitar, dulcimer and ukulele are beautifully accompanied by her rich and versatile vocal stylings.
Betsy Franck is a soulful Americana Blues singer, songwriter, guitarist, festival thrower, people connecter. Most recently settling in the North GA mountains, Betsy spent four years in Nashville TN, and over a decade in Athens, GA., performing and recording 5 studio albums. Franck has shared the stage with a long list of musical favorites from Loretta Lynn to John Popper to Lucinda Williams. Her latest EP recorded at Southern Ground Studios in the heart of Nashville, features (4) singles that can be found as they are released on her website
Raised outside Gainesville, FL, Aslyn made her way to Atlanta, GA to pursue a career in music. Her debut album, “Lemon Love,” was released on Capitol Records in 2005. She’s toured with Chris Isaak, Gavin Degraw, and The Bodeans, to name a few. In 2008 she released “The Grand Garden” EP set and in 2009 a full length LP titled “The Dandelion Sessions.” She was featured on Zac Brown’s Pass the Jar album singing the song they co-wrote, “Trying to Drive.” Her current project is called Kalen & Aslyn. They released an LP entitled “Back of Our Minds” July 2020 on Normaltown Records.
Jennifer Lynn Simpson is a country/Americana artist born in Hollywood, CA but now living in the South. Her debut album, All I Know features a duet with Rick Springfield, who she toured with for 3 years. She has also opened for Pat Benatar, Ty Herndon, Shawn Mullins and many other incredible artists of all genres. Her second album will be released Summer of 2021.
Carly Joy King (The Little Strong) is a singer-songwriter and music therapist and teacher in Athens, Ga, who writes with influences of American folk music and small elements of jazz. A classically trained violinist, her soprano voice and writing style brings a fusion of different musical genres which has been described as reflective ambient, and honest.
Gracie Kuyrkendall is a West Georgia native that grew up singing gospel and bluegrass. She currently leads worship at an Athens church.
