About this Event

Welcome to the Songwriter Soiree!

Join us for this special cozy edition of Portland's most connected home grown style music event!

This month's theme is: True Colors!
How do you show up authentically in your life? It takes courage to showing your authentic self and authentic voice without fear. Don't shy away from expressing genuine emotions, whether they're joyful, painful, or complex. True colors in songwriting means embracing the full spectrum of human feelings.

The Songwriter Soiree is a 15+ year running musical community which started in a Portland Living room, and now has reaches across the world.

Our mission is to support songwriters of all skill levels and genres, create an inspiring and supportive community, and provide a safe space where individuals can express themselves through music and storytelling. Over 4500 songwriters have played since we began in 2009. Wow!

We are so excited to be LIVE in person at our AMAZING space at the Village Ballroom in Portland!

Join us for this very special soiree as we celebrate coming together in music, connection and belonging!

HOW IT WORKS

The Soiree is an open mic for original music. Every song played MUST be original and played by the writer. Each person gets up to 5 minutes to present.

TO SIGN UP TO PLAY

We are now offering sign ups online before the event! We highly encourage you to do this as it helps us streamline the process and be able to consider your time slot requests better. You must purchase a ticket online first in order to sign up online (you will be taken to link upon purchase). You may also sign up at the event in person still!

*******Please note the online sign up list will be closed after the first 25 people. ***********

We will have two sign up periods (first and second half). When you sign up, your name will be put in a random drawing for list order for the first OR second half (10-13 people each usually). No one turned away at second half...we go until we're done!

VOLUNTEER

We need your help to run this event! Positions include set up and clean up. If you'd like to volunteer, please message us or comment on the Facebook event page.

GUIDELINES

• This is a listening party, not a rager. Come with the intention of listening and keep talking to a minimum in the music space.

• This is a mostly acoustic sharing space for ease of transitions. If you wish to use electronic elements (synth/loop pedals, amps) please contact us before coming so we can clear it first.

• Please keep your total stage time to under 5 minutes

• Feel free to bring hygiene friendly finger foods and drinks to share (single serving, non-touching).

• Please invite friends personally you wish to attend!

*SUPPORT THE SOIREE!*

Tickets are $15 pre sale. We offer a sliding scale of $10-20 at the door suggested. Buying in advance ensures your spot (capacity is limited) and helps as gauge how many to set up for.

We rely on door fees and your support to keep the soiree going. Please consider making a donation outside of the ticket. Your contribution will allow us to continue to offer the soiree and retreat moving forward in this challenging time.

100% of all donated proceeds go to our scholarship fund - helping those without means attend our retreats and events!
