Songs That Brought Us Through 2: The Journey Continues
About this Event
Experience an inspiring afternoon of music with June E. Townes & Gospera, a Harlem-based vocal ensemble dedicated to preserving the rich legacy of African American spirituals, hymns, gospel, and sacred anthems.
Songs That Brought Us Through 2: The Journey Continues celebrates the enduring power of African American sacred music through moving performances of spirituals and hymns arranged by African American composers from the early 20th century to today. Performed by a five-voice ensemble with instrumental accompaniment and woven together with narration from the works of renowned African American poets and writers, this powerful program explores themes of faith, hope, perseverance, and praise.
