About this Event
This is a hypnotic presentation of both ancient and contemporary music and poetry on sensuality and seduction from different traditions by an award-winning Greek-Lebanese-Canadian composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Lara Eidi, a powerful poet and fictionist Shree Ganguly and an award-winning poet and Bengali folk singer Ahmed Kaysher.
Born in Athens to Lebanese-Canadian parents, Lara Eidi is an award-winning independent artist whose music defies boundaries and thrives on authenticity. A singer-songwriter, pianist, and genre-blending vocalist rooted in both jazz and folk traditions, she bridges cultures and musical worlds from her base between London and Athens. With a voice described as “a true gift… a kind soul, and a captivating presence” (Jazz UK), Lara has carved a distinctive path in the global music scene. Her performances have graced renowned stages across Europe and the Middle East—from intimate headline shows in Austria, Finland, Germany, and Lebanon, to celebrated appearances across the UK. Notably, she recently captivated audiences at London’s iconic Union Chapel and the Royal Albert Hall, where she performed ancient music from Greece and the Levant with the ensemble Saudha. A proud alumna of the Guildhall School of Music, Lara’s artistry is deeply steeped in classical and jazz disciplines. Yet her sound remains ever-evolving—crafted through emotion, intellect, and an unrelenting passion for storytelling. Her latest critically acclaimed album ‘Sun’ (nominated for Best Album of the Year at the Orpheus Music Awards) is a luminous testament to her artistry, weaving together threads of folk, acoustic rock, jazz, and chamber music. With it, she offers a message of hope, empowerment, and liberation.Lara’s creative voice extends beyond the stage. A sought-after composer for vocal film scores, she recently contributed the original piece ‘Maktub’ to award-winning Lebanese director Soula Saad’s documentary It Takes a Lot of Hands to Heal Beirut—an evocative homage to the August 4 Beirut explosion. She is also an active force in music education and mentorship. Through her initiative, Phonica Music Coaching, she guides emerging artists in realizing their unique musical visions. Her acclaimed songwriting mentorship programme The Notes Between has helped shape numerous albums from conception to completion.A passionate advocate for underrepresented voices, Lara is the host of the award-winning podcast The Notes Between with Women in Jazz Media, spotlighting female composers and unsung stories in the songwriting world. Whether on stage, in the studio, or mentoring the next generation of artists, Lara Eidi continues to shape a musical journey defined by heart, innovation, and fearless honesty.
