Songs 'n Swings: Music with Mr. Aaron Dorfman

Join us for a 40 minute interactive children's music class in the park sponsored by The Slivka Group filled with clapping, dancing, and singing. Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on. Playground onsite for older kids! A fun outing for the whole family to kickoff the weekend!

About Aaron Dorfman:

As a former member of the venerable, internationally touring Chicago bluegrass band, "Henhouse Prowlers", Aaron has performed music throughout the US and Europe on multiple tours. Additionally, partnerships with the US State Department and the Arts Envoy program enabled him to perform, teach master classes, and give talks about the history and culture of bluegrass and American folk music to audiences in Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kenya and Uganda.

These days, Aaron thoroughly enjoys having an varied and eclectic music career: He leads a weekly children's music class for students at a local preschool in the North suburbs, teaches private music lessons to nearly 30 students a week, all in addition to keeping up a demanding performing schedule - you might find him on any given Saturday night singing at somebody's wedding with the Blue Water Kings Band. He is also proud to play locally with many top Bluegrass and Country artists in Chicago including many faculty members at Chicago's well known Old Town School Of Folk music. With a degree in Jazz guitar, a background in performing bluegrass and old time music, and a deep commitment to music education, Aaron not only loves to thrill audiences with his adventurous instrumental virtuosity, but also aims to engage with audiences of all ages and get folks clapping, dancing and singing along with him!
