Songs From The Stacks

In collabration with the Hayward Library, YBCA, BE-IMAGINATIVE and the California Arts Council, the purpose of this workshop series is to foster a sense of community and collective empowerment within the city of Hayward, specifically targeting the Hayward youth and their families, collaborating with local non-profit organizations and institutions. Through a unique blend of community dialogue, self-affirmation exercises, and transformative music creation, the program aims to create a space where participants can bear witness to collective challenges, thereby forging stronger connections and understanding among community members. About the facilitator: Brittany Tanner is an Emmy Award winning artist, 2023-2024 YBCA, BE-IMAGINATIVE, California Arts Council Creative Corps Initiative Grant Awardee, mother, creative and sound healer based in the Bay Area. All of her enterprises center the enrichment of community through healing arts. She uses her powerful voice, singing bowls and live music to enhance the potency of the participants affirmations, creating a supportive environment for emotional release, growth and regulation.
