About this Event
Celebrate the launch of Songs for Women with a complimentary song-writing taster session at Together Culture Cambridge. This pilot project is designed to bring women together in a warm and nurturing community to create songs collaboratively.
Group song-writing is an immensely powerful tool that lets us find our creative voice, connect deeply with ourselves and others, and produce a lasting memento to share with loved ones.
Led by experienced music therapists Sophie and Holly, our afternoon will start with fun musical ice breakers, songs, and games, smoothly transitioning us into the group song-writing process. By the end of the session, we'll have a group song to cherish! No musical experience is necessary: just bring yourself as you are. Small percussion instruments will be provided, and if you’d like to bring an instrument from home, please do so.
After the session, join us for tea and snacks to keep the social going!
About your Facilitators:
Holly: Holly is a music educator, musician and qualified music therapist with a passion for bringing people together in the community. Her freelance career has given her a broad range of client experience, working with people of all ages and backgrounds. In 2022 she launched a free improvisation group for people in the community, which sparked inspiration to start new community projects. In her free time, Holly likes to cook, draw, climb and spend time in nature.
Sophie: Since qualifying as a Music Therapist in 2016, Sophie has worked in a wide range of settings, including inpatient adult mental health, schools, and currently with children and adolescents in the NHS. Sophie loves holding welcoming spaces for people to reconnect with creativity, joy and wellbeing. She is also a qualified yoga teacher, with a love for movement, dance and singing.
