Songs for Freedom

Songs for Freedom returns to Dyoondalup Point Walter Reserve on Sunday 5 March as songwriters from the community of leramugadu (Roebourne) deliver an uplifting concert under the stars celebrating the sounds and stories of the Pilbara.

Performing alongside Ieramugadu Elders community members and artists Ngarluma man Patrick Churnside as MC and Music Director Lucky Oceans lead a stunning ensemble of WA musicians including John Bennett Kankawa Nagarra (Olive Knight) Naomi Pigram Stephen Pigram David Hyams Tehya Makani Vikki Thorn (The Waifs) and more.

Pack a picnic for this free event that includes storytime weaving and sand art for families at 5pm a moving Welcome to Country and traditional Tjaabi and an inspiring evening of songs and stories with exquisite visuals woven through the music from 7pm. 

Presented by the leramugadu community and Big hART in association with the City of Melville as part of Perth Festival.
