Songs for Freedom is returning to the shores of Dyoondalup Point Walter for its fourth and final concert on Saturday, 12 October. This unique, free event showcases soul, blues and country music from the Ieramugadu community (Roebourne, WA), celebrating over a decade of songwriting that honours the beauty and resilience of Yindjibarndi and Ngarluma Country.
Under the guidance of Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi Elders, with musical direction by Grammy winner Lucky Oceans and narration by Ngarluma man Patrick Churnside, the concert features an impressive lineup of artists, including Kutcha Edwards, Kankawa Nagarra, Tehya Makani, John Bennett, Angus Smith, Jay Jerome, David Hyams, Razzy Mak and Sabine Bester. This year, they will be joined by some of Ieramugadu’s emerging musical talents, promising a performance filled with hope, peace and freedom.
Come down to Dyoondalup Point Walter reserve at 5.00pm to set your picnic up, grab a bite to eat from the food trucks and enjoy a range of cultural activities before the music starts at 7.00pm.
