All are welcome to join a free special event with Dorothy Paige-Turner as she presents "Songs and Stories of the Underground Railroad” on February 26 at 2:00 PM. This event is hosted by the WELCA, and everyone is welcome to attend—not just women!
Through music, poetry, and stories, legendary Rockford educator, performing artist, historian, author, and playwright will explore how secret and coded messages embedded within spirituals and folk songs communicated means of escape to those enslaved through the Underground Railroad before, during, and after the Civil War.
