About this Event
Songcraft:
Songwriters are the architects of sonic emotion, crafting universes in three-minute masterpieces. They wield metaphors like paintbrushes, infuse stories with heartbeats, and turn silence into a canvas of resonance. In the grand amphitheater of musical creation, songwriters stand as the virtuoso architects, building bridges between hearts and harmonies, reminding us that life's cadence is most vividly felt when painted with the ink of their genius. With the Songcraft Series, Christopher Morse and Ian Steele will bring local songwriters to Roots Music Project to share their craft and stories.
This month features:
Carlos Barata:
Carlos Barata is a Portuguese-American singer, songwriter and musician from Fort Collins, Colorado - born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. With soulful vocals and thoughtful songwriting inspired by relationships and shared human experiences, his intimate and alternative style reminiscent of The Head And The Heart and City and Colour is something sweet and special that's been shared with thousands from coast-to-coast, supporting artists like Langhorne Slim, Matt Costa and more.
Ingrid Avison:
If Jewel and Ray LaMontagne had a soul baby, then chose Gillian Welch as the godparent and Brandi Carlile as the next door neighbor who babysits from time to time...you'd get Ingrid’s sound.
As a singer songwriter based out of Nederland, Colorado, Ingrid captivates listeners with her distinct flavor of vulnerable and heartfelt music. She blends folk, Americana, indie-pop, soul and country genres, infusing a sweet and sensual texture into her songs. Ingrid’s intimate lyrics, hooky melodies and raw live performances transport her listeners into stirring emotional landscapes that crack open the heart.
In her other career, Ingrid dedicates her time as a grief and trauma therapist. She explores ways to help people move through the ups and downs of life and loss. For Ingrid, songwriting and performance provide yet another vehicle for her to deepen into connection and healing with herself and others.
