Philly musician and author John Kim Faye takes you on an autobiographical journey with songs and storytelling based on his best-selling memoir The Yin and The Yang of it All - a story about the discovery of a voice, a community, and the unique musical journey of a self-professed “mixed-up, mixed-race kid.”
Since its release, Faye’s memoir has achieved Amazon #1 Best Seller status in multiple categories and was also selected by Philadelphia Magazine as one of ten titles included in their "summer reading" recommendations.
As the lead singer and primary songwriter of the Caulfields, Faye was one of the only Asian American frontmen to sign a major label record contract during the alternative rock heyday of the 1990s. In an era that preceded K-Pop―and even the rise of the internet―Faye’s personal journey did not lead to superstardom. Instead, his three-decade career has flourished well beyond his "fifteen minutes" in the spotlight. As a working musician defining his own success, finding connection, and continuing to pursue his passion, Faye is the embodiment of the representation he never had.
The songs and stories you’ll hear unfold over a mesmerizing music bed, provided by guitarist Joey DiTullio and cellist Andrea Weber, will weave a tapestry of revealing moments as told from John Faye’s unique perspective as an artist working on the cusps of identity, race, and fame.
