Sommelier Showdown: Wine vs. Sake Tasting Battle!

Join us for an unforgettable evening where two beverage experts go head-to-head to determine the superior pairing: sake or wine. Hosted by Chris Bolla, WSET Level 3 Wine and IWS Scholar, and Quan Liang, Sake Sommelier, this unique event will feature a battle of flavors as Chris and Quan present their finest selections, each expertly paired with dishes prepared by Kai’s Bistro’s beloved Chef, known to all as Uncle.

Indulge in three exquisite tasting courses, followed by a homemade dessert, as Chris and Quan each have one minute to argue why their pairing is the best. Then, it’s your turn to judge! Will sake reign supreme, or will wine take the crown?

General Guidelines

Please arrive at 530pm and seating will start promptly at 6pm.

There are no dietary accomodations for this event due to limited staffing and specialized menu.

This is a family style event so guests will be sat close to each other for an intimate, and interactive experience. Expect sharing of plates, and lots of clamor - great way to make new friends with foodies and drink enthusiasts alike!

The ticket includes the following:

Welcome pour of sake as we begin the battle!

2 oz pour of a Junmai Daiginjo Sake

3 courses of Cantonese classic dishes served family style.

• Stired Fried fuyu (fermented tofu) broccoli and garlic
• Uncle's Housemade X.O shrimp fried rice

• Regional style braised duck with stewed potatoes

2 oz pours of each wine and sake paired with each dish:

• Omachi Junmai Ginjo vs. California Sauvignon Blanc
• Yamahai Muroka Genshu vs. Washington Riesling

• 12 year aged Yamahai Koshu vs. 2011 Italian Granache

Finished with Big Sister's homemade cloud cake served with dessert Muscat!
