Estelle will host. See this photo? Two volunteer chainsawyers are cutting up logs on this meadow soon to burst forth in open savanna vegetation. Now is the time to pick up those logs and burn them on brush piles. Estelle and other veteran volunteer leaders will be on hand to host this seasonal opportunity.
The meadow has received a prescribed burn and has been planted in a rich mix of seeds collected summer and fall 2024.
The stage is set for summer 2025, of active restoration by volunteers ready to wield an old-fashioned tool, the scythe. Getting the logs picked up this Sunday will facilitate this summer’s scything spree with its aim of weakening tall goldenrod and other rank species. This work will accelerate the expansion of good quality open savanna.
