Have you ever found yourself questioning your beliefs? Have you ever caught yourself thinking, what does it really all mean? What was it like to attend an all-girls Catholic high school in 2012? Do I miss Maroon 5 as a dominant force in culture? AM I GAY? Well, do we have the show for you.
Something to Believe In follows a high school senior at an all-girls Catholic school in Kentucky hurtling towards graduation in the year 2012. Forced to confront the religion that raised her while simultaneously discovering the undeniable, blossoming queerness inside her soul, she asks her congregation (we mean audience): Can these two pieces of a person grow alongside each other? Should they? Something to Believe In explores what it means to actually believe in something (who’d-a thunk), who "deserves” a place in heaven, and how to build a water powered car.

About the Lead Artists:
Sarah Alice Shull (she/her) has been seen in off and off-off Broadway productions, readings, and workshops at various theaters such as Playwright’s Horizons, Joe’s Pub, The Flea Theater, The Sheen Center, The Tank, and various comedy venues. Sarah Alice is a UCBNY Comedy school alum, was a part of the inaugural class of Freestyle Love Supreme’s musical Improv academy at Ars Nova, and she was a member of the BARS program’s 5th cohort at The Public Theater. Sarah Alice is a former Bat, a Resident Acting Company member, at The Flea Theater.

Erin Reynolds is a NYC-based, Kentucky-raised, director who specializes in new work. She has directed at the Atlantic Acting School, Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, Brooklyn College, The Tank, The Flea, Emerging Artists Theatre, and with Normal Ave. Erin directed and developed Something to Believe In by Sarah Alice Shull, which was highly praised at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe. Jen Beck is an NYC-based artist with a focus in acting and producing comedy specials and theatre. Acting credits include, 60/40 (New York Theater Festival), I Am Jonathan (Available Light Theater Company), Night of the Touching Zombies (Theatre at St. Clements) and various characters written and performed by Jen (UCB, The Pit, Magnet). Producing credits include, Michael John Ciszewski: TGIF (Testing Gay Ideas, Funny!); StandUp NY Presents: Julia Scotti: Funny That Way, directed by Susan Sandler; Something to Believe In, directed by Erin Reynolds, written and performed by SAS (Edinburgh Fringe Festival).
