What are Somatic Movement Labs?
Somatic Movement Labs are based on on Body-Mind Centering® (BMC®) principles. BMC® founded by Bonnie Bambridge Cohen, is an exploration of the embodiment of anatomical, physiological, and developmental systems.
What to expect in classes:
A playful and restorative inquiry:
We combine individual and group movement improvisations, supported partnering activities, and reflective practices, as suits your capacity. We move, we laugh, we breathe, we rest.
A safe space to explore and connect with the wisdom of our bodies:
We create a space where safety and consent are the foundation. We check in with each other about what feels comfortable, and make adjustments accordingly.
Accessible movement practices:
No prior movement experience required. Activities can be undertaken sitting, standing, lying, moving or in rest.
About me:
I am a Somatic Movement Educator, completing my certification with Somatic Education Australasia (SEA) in 2024. I have a background in movement improvisation, physical theatre, and body weather. I have worked with all ages and abilities, and also currently teach family classes at Castlemaine Circus.
