This presentation explores the application of Somatic Experiencing in the healing of developmental trauma through a nervous system-informed and experiential lens. Participants will examine how early attachment disruptions, chronic stress, and relational trauma shape physiological regulation, emotional functioning, attunement, and interpersonal patterns across the lifespan. The course will introduce core Somatic Experiencing principles including somatic tracking, regulation, titration, pendulation, and resourcing, while emphasizing their clinical application in psychotherapy with individuals impacted by developmental trauma. Attention will be given to how therapists can work with implicit survival responses and embodied patterns in ways that promote increased safety, integration, affect regulation, and relational capacity. The material is designed to enhance clinicians’ ability to integrate body-based and relational approaches into trauma treatment.
Educational Goals * Increase understanding of how attachment trauma is organized and maintained within the nervous system. * Develop clinicians’ capacity to use Somatic Experiencing to support regulation and repair of relational wounds. * Strengthen skills in facilitating body-based interventions that promote safety, connection, and integration in attachment-focused work.
