“This course was like laying down a heavy weight I did not even realise I was carrying. Each week I felt a little softer, a little more alive in my own skin.” — Newcastle participant, 2024
Dearmouring is:
The gentle process of releasing layers of tension and protection stored in the body.
A way to re-occupy yourself after physical and emotional stress
An invitation to feel safe enough to soften, open, and reconnect
A practice of meeting your edges with compassion and curiosity
As you release long-held tension and patterns of bracing, you begin to create space for energy to flow again. This is the foundation for moving out of stagnation, rekindling vitality, and feeling more present in your own body.
Your body remembers everything. Moments of joy, moments of fear, and the countless subtle ways you have adapted to stay safe. Over time these adaptations can solidify into what is known as armour, which is made up of protective patterns of muscle tension, breath restriction, and emotional holding.
When we face emotional stress, our nervous system activates fight, flight, or freeze responses. If unresolved, these experiences can become “locked” into the body through chronic muscle tension, shallow breathing, or energetic shutdown. Over time, this can manifest as:
Chronic pain or stiffness (especially in hips, jaw, or chest)
Emotional numbness or anxiety
Sexual blockages or intimacy issues
Fatigue, insomnia, or digestive issues
Difficulty feeling present, safe, or open
This 4-week experiential course offers a safe space to recognise and slowly dissolve the layers that weigh you down. Through somatic practice, gentle body-based tools, and the lens of Polyvagal Theory, we invite your nervous system back into a natural rhythm that is rooted in safety, connection, and vitality.
You will learn to listen to your body’s signals, release what no longer serves, and deepen into the felt sense of aliveness.
