💫INVITATION TO MOVE💫Maryam and Lioness welcome you to our August Somatic Dance offering.
😍This dance is going to be an especially unique one as we welcome Lioness (Natasha) from the mountains of Taranaki to the cityscapes of the big smoke to bring her epic tunes! She'll be collaborating with our very own Maryam, who will be on the mic to guide this beautiful embodied exploration. Lioness has been hosting regular dances under guidance of the mountains for years, and brings a wealth of somatic awareness with her. It's an honour to be bringing this dance to our community!🔥
Somatic Dance is a guided free form movement journey, delving deep into the layers of the body and held in a non-judgemental space where all of you is welcome. No prior dance experience is necessary and all bodies are welcome 🤗
There are no routines or steps to follow here, simply an invitation to discover how your body wishes to move. The guided facilitation is supported by a carefully curated soundscape overseen by a DJ 🎶
This dance is an invitation for you to come and move your body to the unique rhythm of you, supporting a deeper connection with yourself and others 💃🕺
This is a space free from alcohol, shoes and talking. Let the epic music and guidance of your facilitator carry you out of your mind and into your body, allowing yourself to experience the transformative power of Somatic Dance! The music takes the form of a wave, beginning gently before building to a peak, then settling back down to land softly and slowly.
We recommend wearing clothes you are comfortable moving in (layers are great), bring along a drink bottle and a drop or two of curiosity!
Our dance spaces are designed for adults to create a space where you are able to freely explore and express your authentic self, in whichever shape and form it happens to be expressing itself. As part of this, we request that alternate arrangements are made to care for any children while you attend. If you have a child you would like to bring along, please reach out to us and we can have a chat about whether it is a possibility 🥰

⏰ We welcome you at any time from 6.45pm for a 7pm start.

We have adopted a two tier ticket option:
$20 supported dancers, we want to continue to make our dances accessible
$25 supporting dancers, for those who feel more abundant and are able to support us
If price is a barrier to attending, please reach out to us and we can work something out, an additional hand with tasks on the day is often appreciated.

Maryam; Somatic Dance Facilitator 🎤
Born in Canada with Syrian and Iraqi heritage, Maryam is a wellness workshop facilitator and a Somatic Dance Teacher, with international training across several holistic modalities, including reiki & sensory touch therapy, yoga, cacao circle facilitation, and sound therapy. Through her comprehensive understanding of somatic practices, she harnesses the transformative power of movement, breath, and sound to guide individuals toward inner strength and embodiment. Maryam’s expertise in creating a safe and nourishing space allows participants to embark on a profound journey of self-connection and healing.

Natasha’s sets blend sacred somatics with soul-stirring beats. Each journey is a love note to your body, and a reclamation of your inner rhythm. She’s trained in over 300 hours of somatic dance with mentors Sarsha Hope and Stephen Blase, and since 2022 has held over 40 somatic dance experiences and countless yoga journeys. DJ'd at NZ Spirit and Resolution Festivals, a local underground gig (shhhh) as well as private events
