Somatic Burlesquercise Workshop!

In this workshop for women, you will learn how to tune in to your body, increase your confidence, and facilitate your own healing in brand new ways by using Burlesquercise and unique Somatic Modalities with Embodiment Coach, Jill Kinsey.

We'll begin with Body Sorcery, a short but deep checking-in with our bodies to discover what makes us feel good, and what makes us feel not so good about ourselves. Once we've identified some potential triggers, and can find the physical sensations where both our love and our pain reside, it's time to face our fears - literally- by turning to the mirrors.

Using mirror-work as a tool, (not a punishment), we will spend a bit of time getting into our bodies while gazing at ourselves with curiousity, not judgement. Jill will teach a few basic Burlesquercise movements, while we discover what those physical moves feel like, what comes up for us mentally, and what minor adjustments can be made, in order to have us looking and feeling fine.

After the Burlesquercise intro, it's time to dance! We'll shift into 40 minutes of a fun, low-impact, choreographed workout, filled with shimmies, body rolls, chest and hip isolations, and a bit of footwork. As we build on the movements, you will be surprised at how good burlesquercise makes you look and feel!

To round out the workshop, we come back together as a circle of empowered women to share our experiences and process out loud. Expressing what was felt in our minds and bodies before, during, and after the movement exercises helps to unstick insecurities. When you hear others voice what you also felt- it makes us feel not so alone. Authentically connecting with your inner self and with other women offers profound healing experiences and growth for your soul. <3

Jill has been involved in the Northern Colorado Burlesque Community for fifteen years. In 2019 she started her own mind and body fitness class, called “Burlesquercise,” with the goal of helping women feel more comfortable and confident in their bodies. Burlesquercise combines the sexy, flirty fun of Burlesque dance moves with the all over body goodness of a low impact aerobic workout. Post pandemic, Jill has pivoted her business to one-on-one and group Embodiment Coaching, using Burlesquercise and other Somatic modalities to help people heal trauma, connect with their bodies, and feel good in their skins. Jill hosts monthly online meetups and movement classes, and is excited to return to in-person events!
