SOMATIC BASICS w/ kendra adler
Get in touch with the sensory experience of your body through experiential anatomy, authentic movement, moving elemental meditations & the Word As Movement Process.

Every Tuesday | 11 am - 12:15 pm

Curious about somatic movement and interested in having an experience? Or unsure of what that experience looks or feels like? This movement based class is catered for those curious about being in the felt sense of your body. Take an hour to orient and luxuriate in your whole self. We will explore somatic concepts from experiential anatomy, authentic movement, elemental meditations and the Word As Movement Process. This is a space to build tools of resiliency, care, and play as we begin to remember who we are through somatic body-based inquiries. For all bodies, as you are, wanting a container to be in contemplation.

Classes held in cooperation/participation with Philosophical Research Society every Tuesday at 11 am in the Auditorium.

Kendra Adler is a multidisciplinary artist and somatic movement facilitator using movement to investigate the connection between the Earth and the human body. Her improvisational movement is a physical conversation between the element and herself, guiding her to discover the complexities of external and internal space. Through photography, film, ritual performance, movement, and land art - she explores the subconscious, texture, tones, and the subtle sensations that arise within nature and human nature. Her work invites a remembrance of our connection to self and earth on a cellular level. An inquiry of the in-between, liminal places where these two facets dialogue with one another in various forms. An ongoing practice of listening, awakening and destroying. She has shared her art and performances in numerous venues including at Highways Performance for SOMAarts Fest and at the Human Resources Gallery in Los Angeles. She is the founder and creator of a nature-centric somatic movement practice called Word As Movement. She is also currently studying Body-Mind Centering - an integrated and embodied approach to movement, the body and consciousness in her continued pursuit to deepen her awareness of the bridge between science and intuition. She believes, within this meeting place, we can come together to discover one other in a new sensory state of awareness. She creates work to bring bodies, in their highest, together through this integration process.

Kendra offers private movement sessions, if you are interested please visit her site (below) or email [email protected]: https://www.kendraadler.com/11-session
