The Training Provider
This two-day training programme is delivered by Dr Charlotte Hilton, a psychologist with expertise in behaviour change, including SFBT and is also a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).
Course Content
Solution-Focussed (Brief) Therapy (SFBT) is a behaviour change approach that involves a collaboration between client and practitioner to develop practical and sustainable solutions.
As the name suggests, the focus is very much on finding manageable solutions to change, rather than the problem itself, or things that may be contributing to maintaining problematic behaviours.
As a highly practical approach, SFBT continues to grow in popularity and has broad applications across health, social care, education, criminal justice and beyond.
The training is highly interactive, the content informed by the needs of trainees and benefits from a blend of learning materials including brief PowerPoint, group discussion and practice, video examples and plenty of humour!
Who is it for?
The training is suitable for anyone supporting people to make important changes in their life although this training will be facilitated within the working context of attendees.
By the end of the training, trainees will have a good understanding of not only what SFBT is, but also how to do it and the contexts that SFBT may be particularly helpful for supporting people through change.
Those trained in other methods may also benefit from exploring how to blend SFBT with other complimentary approaches such as trauma informed, CBT and motivational interviewing (MI), for example.
Catering
Unfortunately, as this is a funded training session, we are unable to provide a full lunch for trainees. Light refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits) will be made available at scheduled break times and water will be available throughout the day.
