Solstices

Join Talea for our performance of Georg Friedrich Haas's Solstices, for ten musicians in complete darkness. By taking away light from our experience, Solstices adds a new lens to our ability to relate to sound, bringing together performers and audiences through intensive listening. Solstices is an immersive, sensory work expanding the listening experience through worlds of microtones and overtones and evoking the natural phenomena of planetary movement.

We will be performing two shows: 4:47 PM (time of the winter solstice) and 7:30 PM. Admission to the afternoon show is free with RSVP. We invite you to join us in between the shows in the lobby of the 2nd floor of the DiMenna Center, beginning at 6pm, for Talea's winter celebration, with refreshments and drinks to celebrate the season.

What to Expect: The run-time for Solstices is around 75 minutes, and the performance will take place in complete darkness. The show will begin with a few minutes of darkness before the piece begins, so that audiences can acclimate to the room.
