Join us on the stunning vista of the Belmont Plateau for a special 90-minute solstice themed class that integrates sun salutations and other poses intended to welcome and honor the longest day of the summer.The summer solstice on June 20th signifies the longest, lightest day of the year and the start of our favorite season in Fairmount Park…. SUMMER! Dating all the way back to ancient times, the solstice marks the mystical, spiritually-heightened day when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky. Celebrated by many cultures and religions at festivals and ceremonies around the world, it honors a deep sense of devotion to nature, Mother Earth, and the energizing power of the sun. Yogis celebrate the empowering effects of this supercharged day and so can YOU!
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
– Bring you own yoga mat
– Dess according to weather conditions.
– Bring water and a snack
– Bring bug spray and sunscreen
-There are bathrooms available, but at a short distance from the class location (5 min. walk)
-Appropriate for adults & mature adolescents (minors must be ticketed and accompanied by a guardian)
PARKING: there is plenty of free parking in the park. As always, NEVER leave valuables in your car!
