About this Event

Join us for a Solstice Sound Bath, an evening of immersive healing music from two talented sound bath practitioners, Timothy Burgin and Rivers Whittle. They will weave their distinct instruments and traditions into a shared soundscape, creating a layered magical sound journey.

The winter solstice, the longest night of the year, invites you to slow down, honor your inner light, and set intentions for the season ahead. We will start with a warming and energizing breathwork session and ease into the sound bath with a guided meditation to calm the body and quiet the mind. Give yourself the gift of deep rest and relaxation during this busy and hectic time of year.

Timothy Burgin is a world music percussionist who has spent over 20 years collecting and playing sound healing instruments. A Kripalu & Pranakriya-trained yoga instructor who has lived and taught in Asheville, NC since 2004, he has completed over 500 hours of yoga training and founded YogaBasics.com. He leads sound baths throughout Asheville, drawing on his training in acupuncture, bodywork, yoga energetics, anatomy, and physiology.

Rivers Whittle is a devoted student of Music and Nature. He strives to weave these interconnected teachers together through immersive musical experiences. The kora is his primary instrument, after living and studying with traditional Griot families in West Africa. Rivers sees how music can help us reconnect with our inner nature and cultivate presence, love, and a deeper relationship with the world around us. His intention is to create spaces where self-healing can take place, where people can relax, reconnect, and discover their unique "note" they bring to this world.

Sound baths promote deep release and relaxation, entraining our brainwaves to shift into a dreamlike state. This gentle, grounding practice is open to everybody — no experience needed. Come as you are, tired or wired, or somewhere in between.

Please bring a yoga mat or pad, along with anything else to make you comfortable, like cushions and blankets. Wear something comfortable and bring your water bottle.
