Solo Show (Workshop Performance): On Earth as it is in Hell

At first, Andrew thinks he’s just trying to help his daughter overcome her fear of hell. He cuts off religious family members and researches the origins of our afterlife beliefs, realizing along the way how much he needs to find his own post-religious place in the world. While learning about the history of our beliefs, Andrew finds vindication for his own choices to leave Christianity, but his daughter isn’t convinced. As he dives further into the history books, his research doesn’t just disprove the idea of hell, it also reveals how our beliefs justify our actions. How they allow us to further inequality or tolerate evil. In the end, Andrew humbly realizes that we are all capable of creating “hell on earth” and his own transformation invites the audience to live a life of acceptance, generosity, and justice.
