Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology will celebrate Solemn Vespers at 7 p.m., preceded by an organ recital at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great. The Vespers will conclude with a choral selection featuring works by the eminent renaissance composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, in recognition of the 500th anniversary of his birth, featuring motets from his rarely-performed Canticum Canticorum, settings of verses from Song of Songs, each of which serves as a meditation on the lectionary readings of the day. The pre-vespers organ recital will be performed by Dr. Stella O’Neill, Director of Music at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cincinnati’s East End.
