About this Event
In this beginner-friendly session, you'll learn essential soldering skills needed to repair a variety of broken electrical connections in everyday items. This skill allows you to turn your hand to fixing lamps, power cords, headphones, printed circuit boards and more.
With this 2.5 hour workshop, you will learn these practical techniques:
- soldering electronic components to a printed circuit board (PCB)
- making in-line splices and repairs to wire conductors
- desoldering and reworking PCB components and connections
These skills will be gained while you solder together several types of wire conductors and replace their insulation. You will also complete a basic PCB project designed to introduce the participant to the fundamentals of electronic soldering skills. You will leave this session with new enthusiasm for repairing your home electronics and maybe even amaze your family, friends, and neighbours with your savvy repair skills!
Our instructor, Craig Pickthorne, works in communications for the non-profit sector and is a current Repair Café fixer. He has previously worked in the theatre and live event industry in Toronto for 22 years as a lighting and sound technician.
All tools and supplies provided.
