Join Bendigo Art Gallery Curator Emma Busowsky for a talk celebrating the adventurous life and exceptional talent of Bendigo’s most famous artistic alumnus, Agnes Goodsir, on the 160th anniversary of her birth.
Goodsir trained at the Bendigo School of Mines under respected tutor Arthur T Woodward, who encouraged his students to travel and study in Paris. Goodsir fell in love with the modern and creative city, settling there permanently in 1921 with her muse and life partner Rachel Dunn.
Important paintings and personal mementos of Goodsir are currently on display in Bolton Court, in conjunction with 'Paris: Impressions of Life 1880 – 1925'. Emma will share insights into curating this complementary exhibition of works by Australian artists who sought inspiration and success in the city of Paris.
This talk is presented in association with Bendigo Pride.
