Escape the sounds and rush of the city by joining us on this rejuvenating walk along Mimico Creek. Mimico Creek is a stream that flows through Brampton, Mississauga and Toronto and eventually leads to Lake Ontario. The creek's name is derived from the community of Mimico, which is from the Ojibwe word omiimiikaa meaning "abundant with wild pigeons".

We will be walking along the frozen creek for 8km from Echo Valley Park going north to Eglinton West before turning round and returning to our start point. The area is perfect in the winter, covered in snow, with people cross country skiing through the parks. It's perfectly quiet and is a great place to relax and destress.

Kipling and Islington TTC Stations are the closest TTC stations and are a short 5 min bus ride away. Free street parking is available at the entrance of the park.

Bring crampons if you have them but they should not be necessary as we will be walking on packed snow rather than ice.

Let's Hike T.O. is a hiking community open to everyone with a focus on newcomers, people of colour, and young adults aged 20-40. All are welcome on our walks.

What To Expect

Registration fee: $5 though if you cannot afford it, please contact us at [email protected] to request a complimentary registration based on your circumstance.

COVID-19 safety: Hikers will be encouraged to keep socially distant where possible and to wear masks when 2 metres distance is not possible on the trails.

Limited tickets: This hike is restricted to 15 registrants. Tickets will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and are non-refundable.

Pre-hike email: Registrants will receive additional details by email the day before the hike, such as what to bring on the day, what to wear, etc.

Weather precautions: The hike will take place regardless of rain, wind, or snow so please dress accordingly! We will only cancel or postpone the hike if weather conditions are considered extreme or dangerous, in which case registered hikers will be informed 48 hours in advance.
