Join us in a fun and interactive cake decorating experience! Students will learn the technical foundations of cake decorating through professional demonstrations and hands-on practice, guiding them through crumb coating, achieving a smooth buttercream finish, and elegant piping techniques on a pre-built 6-inch cake.
What You Will Learn
- Cake Decorating Fundamentals: Understand the tools and techniques used by professionals to create bakery quality cakes
- The Perfect Coat: Learn how to get a perfectly smooth cake exterior and sharp edges
- Precision Piping: Practice bag-filling, bag-handling, and practice different piping styles before piping on your own cake
- Autumn Styling: Use seasonal accents like mini pumpkins, pinecones, dried florals, and edible glitter to add the final decorative accents to your cake
Class Schedule
- Introduction & Overview (30 mins): Welcome, instructor introduction, student introductions, and an overview of buttercream dynamics and essential tools.
- Crumb Coat & Covering (45 mins): Live demonstration and hands-on practice sealing in crumbs, achieving full side coverage, and smoothing before chilling.
- Break (15 mins): Tool cleanup, station resets, and a chance to stretch legs with refreshments.
- Piping Practice & Application (60 mins): Step-by-step piping bag preparation, testing on practice sheets, and piping custom borders on the chilled cakes.
- Decor, Photos & Boxing (30 mins): Final structural styling with autumn decor, an edible glitter demo, individual and group photography at the photo station, and final cake boxing.
Amenities Included
- Refreshments: Access to a snack counter including house-made non-alcoholic drinks, charcuterie cones, a dessert, and a Keurig coffee station.
- Tools & Equipment: Class aprons and all necessary tools needed to prepare this cake in class.
- Recipes: Every student receives the recipes used in class for swiss meringue buttercream
- Custom Fall Cake: Each student goes home with their own fully decorated, custom-piped 6-inch cake packed in a professional box with care instructions.
Notes:
- Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE! If you are unable to attend the class, you may transfer the ticket to another person. Tickets are not transferable to another class.
- Doors will open 10 minutes before listed class start time. Students wishing to grab seats together are encouraged to arrive when doors open, otherwise we cannot guarantee reserved seating regardless if tickets were purchased together or not.
