Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated or boring while enjoying a variety of foods from different food groups – fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, legumes, dairy products, and healthy fats.
In this AARP-sponsored class, the art of making fluffy, pillowy Sweet Potato Gnocchi with nutty notes Brown Butter Sage Sauce and a simple and elegant tomato sauce that won the heart of the legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti are on Chef Barry’s menu.
In this hands-on experience you’ll learn the secrets to achieving the perfect texture and flavor balance and will roll, shape, and cook these little clouds of joy that are as nutritious as they are delicious, using sweet potatoes for a healthier twist on the classic Italian dish.
Whether you're a seasoned cook or a beginner, this class promises to enhance your skills and delight your palate, all while embracing the philosophy of eating well to age gracefully. Join us for an unforgettable cooking experience that will leave you with new techniques, recipes, and a taste of Italy in your very own kitchen.
CLASS NOTES: We experience a high number of people who cancel at the last minute or don’t show up for the Eat Well & Age Gracefully classes. Please register only if you’re committed to attending.

The class, limited to 16, will be held at the Catalina United Methodist Church kitchen, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd. You’ll receive an email with class details (everything you’ll need will be provided) 3 days in advance. Please use an email address you frequently check. Our emails can get caught in spam filters or blocked entirely. Please contact us if you don’t receive the class information.
Please know it may be necessary to cancel select classes if 10 or fewer guests enroll. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience; we’ll personally reach out to each guest in case of cancellation.
